The WarMonger As a soldier, I have been called ... War Monger ... and recently, so I decided I should probably look that word up. Sure, I thought I knew what it meant, just as those who were calling me that did. Here is what I found. "One who attempts to stir up or spread something that is usually petty or discreditable." The dictionary also says a broker, dealer. This set me to thinking. Oh oh.. danger ahead.. As a soldier-warmonger, am I really one who attempts to stir up or spread war? Anyone who might think that, has obviously never been a soldier.. and walked in those shoes.. Consider.. WHO is the first person shot at in war? WHO is the first person killed in war? WHO is the first person to leave a family behind in war? No.. I don't think the soldier yearns for war, for he is the one who stands to lose. .much.. all.. Regarding "something that is usually petty or discreditable" .. Anyone who thinks of war as petty... most certainly knows nothing of war and I have never considered war as a petty undertaking. War begins when one person begins killing others. War begins when one person oppresses and brutalizes others. I fail to see anything petty or discreditable in this. I have to conclude, that, by definition, those who have called me.. and other soldiers War Monger, are indeed themselves.. the War Mongers.. because, by definition, they are "stirring up or spreading something that is petty or discreditable".
